STUFF YOU MIGHT NOT ALREADY KNOW

by Carlos Diaz

You now win money for advancing to the Elite 8!!

Every golfer who reaches the Elite 8 will receive $125!!  So that means if you win 3 matches, you will win AT LEAST $225!!!!

More players will win more money... earlier!!

Every golfer who reaches the Sweet 16 will receive a crisp, clean $100 bill!! That’s right!  All you have to do is win 2 matches, and you will be $100 richer!!

More players will win more money... in the Calcutta!!

Again this year, the Calcutta will pay out for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Places!! So that means if we get $5,000 in the Calcutta pot, the breakdown will look like this:

1st Place 40%            (at $5,000= $2,000.00

2nd Place 20%           (at $5,000= $1,000.00

3rd Place 10%            (at $5,000= $   500.00

4th Place 5%              (at $5,000= $   250.00

Crime Stoppers 25%  (at $5,000= $1,250.00
More money in the Calcutta pot means those figures will be even BIGGER!!

This year, Carlos Diaz is personally making the Calcutta BIGGER!!!

Carlos Diaz has pledged to match every dollar in the Calcutta Pot over $5,000.  So once the Calcutta pot reaches $5,000, every 1 dollar then becomes 2 dollars!!  That means, if the Calcutta Pot finishes at $6,000, Carlos Diaz will add $1,000 to make the Calcutta Pot $7,000!!!  So give, give, give!!!!

Once again, no ties for Final Four "losers"!!

No ties in 2011!!  This year, the first player who gets knocked out of the Final Four will finish in 4th place ($250), while the player who lasts the longest before being defeated in the Final Four will finish in 3rd place ($500). If both players get knocked out on the same hole, the player with the lower handicap will finish in 3rd place ($500), and the player with the higher handicap will finish in 4th place ($250).

If you lose, you can still win... more!!!

4 players from each round of stroke play (Lowest gross, lowest net, 2nd lowest gross, 2nd lowest net) will advance into the next round of stroke play. That means, even if you lose in the firstround of match play, you can still win up to $1000!! That’s as much prize money as the player who finishes in 2nd place in the entire tournament!! So if you get knocked off at 10 a.m., simply rally your game, play weekend and win BIG!!

If you “dress scratch," you win!!

It’s not how well you play... it’s how well you look when you do it!  Before Bob Rusie starts the tournament by smacking his drive down the 1st fairway at 7 a.m., we will award $100 to the golfer wearing the most “unique" golf outfit.  Other players with daring fashion sense will receive gift certificates for free stuff.  So in closing, if you dress as crazy Carlos Diaz does... you’re a winner!

We’re looking for a Cinderella Story!!

In honor of Bill Murray in "Caddyshack," you can be the 2011 Carlos Diaz Crime Stoppers Challenge Cinderella Story. The player with the highest handicap in the Final Four will receive $50!!  So you've got that going for ya... which is nice. (And you don’t even have to kill any gophers!)

The Bad Weather Clause

by Carlos Diaz

Bad weather is not expected because God loves (a) racing and (b) my golf tournament.   If you remember correctly, it was supposed to rain all day on the day of my golf tourney in 2008, 2009 AND 2010, but all 3 days turned out to be beautiful days.  Thanks be to my Guy upstairs.  If for some unforeseen reason, there does happen to be unfavorable weather on Saturday, June 25, 2011, it is your responsibility to call the Valle Vista Pro Shop at (317) 888-5313 to find out if there is a delay in play.  If you do not call in, and play goes on without you, your match will be forfeited, and you will NOT be refunded your $150 tournament fee.  Any play that does not occur on Saturday, June 25, 2011 because of bad weather will be played on Sunday, June 26, 2011.  If you cannot play on Sunday, June 26, 2011, your match will be forfeited, and you will NOT be refunded your $150 tournament fee.   Any play that does not occur on Saturday, June 25, 2010 or Sunday, June 26, 2011 because of bad weather will be played on Saturday, July 2, 2011.  If you cannot play on July 2, 2011, your match will be forfeited, and you will NOT be refunded your $150 tournament fee.  Any play that does not occur on Saturday, June 25, 2011, Sunday, June 26, 2011 or Saturday, July 2, 2011 because of bad weather, will be played at 7:00am on Sunday, July 3, 2011.  If you cannot play at 7:00am on Sunday, July 3, 2011 your match will be forfeited and you will NOT be refunded your $150 tournament fee.   But honestly, the above paragraph is completely irrelevant because, as I previously stated, The Good Lord loves my tourney.

THERE ARE NO REFUNDS AFTER JUNE 1, 2011

If a player drops out BEFOREJUNE 1, 2011, the first golfer who signed up on the “Play-In” list will beasked if he wants to accept a guaranteed spot in the tournament.  If that golfer accepts, he will pay the$150 entry fee, instead of the $100 entry fee, and he will take the spot of thegolfer who dropped out.  If thefirst golfer on the list declines the guaranteed spot, then that golfer willstill compete in the “Play-In” tourney, and we will ask the next golfer on the“Play-In” list.

If a golfer drops out of the guaranteed field of 62 ON OR AFTER JUNE 1, 2011, then thatgolfer’s spot WILL NOT be filled by another golfer.  If a golfer drops out of the guaranteed field of 62 ON OR AFTER JUNE 1, 2011, then thatgolfer’s spot will remain vacant and their opponent will have a first-roundbye. If a golfer drops out of the guaranteed field of 62 ON OR AFTER JUNE 1, 2011, then that golfer’s $150 entry fee willbecome a $150 donation to Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana.  At anytime BEFORE JUNE 1, 2011, a golfer can drop out of the tournament andreceive his $150 back in full. If a golfer drops out of the guaranteed field of62 ON OR AFTER JUNE 1, 2011, thenthat golfer’s $150 entry fee will become a $150 donation to Crime Stoppers ofCentral Indiana.

A “Play-In” golfer can drop out at anytime before 2pm onSaturday, June 18.  Once the blinddraw occurs for the “Play-In” tourney, that “Play-In” golfer’s $100 isnon-refundable.  If that golferdrops out in the 2 days between Saturday, June 18 and Monday, June 20, thenthat golfer’s $100 entry fee will become a $100 donation to Crime Stoppers ofCentral Indiana.
